Factory glass is never a perfect 100% clear: most car glass reads somewhere around 75 to 85% VLT before any film goes on, and the exact figure varies by glass batch, sometimes even between two cars of the same model.
Run the stacking math and the trap becomes obvious. Say your T1's front door glass reads 85% on its own. Layer a film rated at 60% VLT over it and the meter does not show 60%.
